Stretch Forming Behavior and Constitutive Equation of a Modified 5083 Alloy with High Mg Content at Elevated Temperatures

For the purpose of applying a modified 5083 alloy (New 5083M alloy) with high Mg content in various automotive sheet parts, stretch forming behavior was studied tensile mode at wide range processing conditions. The tests were conducted by using test machine under temperature ranges 100–400 °C and strain rate 0.001–1 s?1. results showed that has superior mechanical properties to commercial elevated temperatures. microstructure before after analyzed optical microscope (OM) equipped polarizing filter electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) unit. Deformed observed low conditions dynamic recrystallized However, regardless evolution, developed deformation textures distributed orientation distribution functions (ODF) images. In addition, condition, complex shaped cavities which detrimental appeared grain boundary triple junction. Based on data, constitutive equation predicting derived. calculated curves compared measured experiment agreed well.
